Is development killing Tibet's way of life?

China is bringing development to Tibet, changing it, trying to make it modern, but some Tibetans are worried that their region's unique identity is being eroded. Our was a rare, Chinese government-controlled trip to Tibet. Our schedule and our movements were almost entirely controlled by official minders who rarely let us out of their sight.High in Tibet's mountains there are fears that an ancient way of life is slowly dying.

Tibetans Best Judge of their Representative; says Spoke-person

Dharamshala: The Tibet Post International is in conversation today with Mr. Thubten Samphel, the spokesperson for the Tibetan government in exile based in Dharamshala, India. Smart, soft spoken and eloquent Mr Samphel fled Tibet as a child and came to India, where he was educated in some of the best colleges of the country. He now works as a spokesperson for His Holiness the Dalai Lama's administration and is also the author of 'Falling through the Roof', a book based on his experiences as a refugee.

40,000 Signature Petition Delivered to Chinese Government in Support of Tenzin Delek Rinpoche

Dharamshala - Tibetans and their supporters joined a global day of action today for the release of Tenzin Delek Rinpoche, a highly revered religious leader and community organizer from eastern Tibet who is currently serving a life sentence in Chinese prison. In cities around the world, demonstrators delivered a 40,000 signature petition to Chinese embassies and consulates denouncing China’s unjust imprisonment of Tenzin Delek Rinpoche.

No breakthroughs in US, China human rights talks

Associated Press Writer= WASHINGTON (AP) — The United States and China reported no major breakthroughs Friday after only their second round of talks about human rights since 2002. The Obama administration wants to push Beijing to treat its citizens better, but it also needs Chinese support on Iranian and North Korean nuclear standoffs, climate change and other difficult issues.

Dharamshala: To commemorate His Holiness the Dalai Lama's arrival to Dharamshala 50 years ago, the Central Tibetan Administration in exile today organized a ‘Thank you Himachal Pradesh' event at the main temple in Dharamshala. The Ceremony is also dedicated to honor some of the local senior Indian citizens associated with the Tibetan exiled community over the last 50 years.

Jonang and Dharamshala People offer Long-Life Prayers to Dalai Lama

Dharamshala: The followers of Jonang sect of Tibetan Buddhist Tradition and Tibetans living in Dharamshala, Yesterday, made grand long life prayer offerings to Tibetan spiritual leader, His Holiness the Dalai Lama at the main temple, in Dharamshala. The ceremony commemorated the 50th anniversary of His Holiness the Dalai Lama's stay in India. Their prayers were also dedicated for the victims of the earthquake disaster in Tibet. The prayer ceremony was led by the Khalkha Jetsun Dhampa, the head of Jonang tradition.

China Media Criticises “Misleading” Western Quake Coverage

China Says Independence Activists Will Be Shot Dead On Sight

Dharamshala: A Chinese soldier said that if Chinese troops encounter a Tibetan independence activist in the quake area of Kyigudo, he or she could be shot dead on the spot without approval from higher authorities, The Epoch Times reports.
